EMOTION is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Program funded by the European Commission that educates the future generation of translational scientists in the skin health & care sector.
EMOTION is a 2-year English-taught program that involves the Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, ITALY), the Universitad Miguel Hernández (Elche, SPAIN) and the Université de Namur (Namur, BELGIUM) and delivers a double degree.

A program that fosters the science-driven connection between the dermatological and the cosmetic sciences
A program that aims at contributing to skin appearance, as well as skin health
A program that is not focused on a single sector or a single stage of R&D, but oversees the entire process from ideation to commercialization, with a project management approach
A program that offers an international thriving environment
thorough knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, pathology, of the skin as well as of the processes that mediate aging and disease;
thorough knowledge of the molecular targets available to correct disease states or to improve the well-being of skin;
correct approach to investigate any condition relating to human health and well-being outside dermatology and dermo-cosmetics;
ability to design, synthesize and characterize molecules potentially useful for human health or well-being;

SEMESTERS
Two semesters in Italy (UPO) and one semester in Spain (UMH) or Belgium (UNamur), according to whether the intellectual inclination of the student is towards non-clinical or clinical research, respectively.
Background information is provided by academic professors, but testimonials from the productive world are heavily relied upon to provide up-to-date and valuable information to transit to the industrial environment and to make an impact in the R&D arena.
All semesters also include practical and tutored work.
WORKSHOPS
Three thematic workshops focused on transferrable skills or contents related to hot trends in the field.
The workshops are mainly conducted by professionals transmitting hands-on experience on specific topics and are the occasion to create a network with the productive sector and to gather different cohorts of students together.
ELECTIVE PROJECT
A six-month final elective project (internship) either in academia or industry.
The work carried out is the subject of the thesis that the student writes and discusses for his/her final degree. Indeed, once the internship is concluded, in September students discuss their work at UPO (Novara), during the induction week.
This allows graduating students to meet and welcome the freshmen, working towards a community spirit.
EMOTION trains to become a professional in the pharmaceutical or cosmetic field, both in the private or public sector.
EMOTION graduates are entitled for pursuing a PhD and academic career. . They might also be employed in the following fields, relating to pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or medical devices:
R&D
Quality Assurance
Regulatory Affairs
Manufacturing
Clinical Research
Pharmacovigilance
